RANCHO SANTE FE – Foothills Christian won the first-ever varsity 8-man football game on Horizon Prep’s home field Friday night, as the Knights knocked off the newcomers, 50-18.
DANIEL LYYJOKI rushed for a touchdown early on for the Knights running behind the lead blocking of senior GIOVANNI SORRENTINO.
Sophomore quarterback TONY MROZ scored on a scramble, as he scored by rushing through the defense then falling near the right side of the goal, making it 22-0. FCHS tacked on a two-point conversion.
Lyyjoki added a 12-yard touchdown run
HUNTER NICKELL, a sophomore, had an interception after a pass was deflected by sophomore TANNER COREY.
Senior CHASE EURICH provided a strong pass rush on the afternoon for FCHS, which improved to 5-2 overall.
