LA MESA – The fastest high school football player in the nation – Helix senior ISAAC TAYLOR-STUART – has been named to the USA Today Preseason All-USA First Team Defense, it was announced Thursday.
Stuart, the former St. Augustine star who transferred to the La Mesa campus before the start of the school year, ran the fastest 40-yard time (4.3) at The Opening in Beaverton, Ore., during the summer.
The 6-foot-2, 187-pound four-star recruit is a top-5 cornerback in the 2018 class and a top 30 prospect overall. He has scheduled his first official visit of the fall to LSU.
With superior height and speed, Taylor-Stuart has been courted (likely as a CB) by as many as 50 schools to date, though recruiting experts rate the Tigers, USC, Michigan, Nebraska and Ohio State among the leaders to land the services of the Scotties’ new star.
It is also worth noting that he has family in Louisiana.
WIth 41 tackles, a sack, an interception and nine pass break-ups at St. Augustine last season, Taylor-Stuart also had 754 all-purpose yards on offense and scored seven touchdowns.
Taylor-Stuart, who will play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January. , has seven career interceptions. He was an All-San Diego Section CIF First Team selection in 2016.
