LA MESA – Former St. Augustine star ISAAC TAYLOR-STUART is headed to Helix, following an announcement by the senior defensive back over the weekend.
A day after running the fastest 40-yard time at The Opening in Beaverton, Ore., the 6-foot-2, 185-pound four-star recruit said he’s transferring to the charter school.
He was briefly suspended for violating Saints’ team rules by playing in all-star 7-on-7 events. Though the suspension was rescinded, it left a bad taste in his mouth, he said.
“There was some miscommunication, so I felt it was best to go to Helix for the final year of my high school career,” Taylor-Stuart told USAToday.
He has unofficial visits lined up this summer with Oregon, Ohio State, and Michigan. He said he’s willing to travel far for a college.
Taylor-Stuart’s remaining list of potential college suitors includes some of the nation’s top programs, including LSU, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Florida State, Washington, Nebraska, Penn State, Georgia, USC, Texas A&M, Illinois, and Utah.
In all, Taylor-Stuart, a U.S. Army All-American, is reported to have received 40 scholarship offers nationwide, including San Diego State.
“If I’m close to home or away from home, it doesn’t matter,” he said. “It’s Earth, so wherever I go, it’s all love.”Also, another transfer announced his intention to attend Helix next season in former Mt. Carmel defensive back MARK JOHNSON.
Stuart Taylor has seven career interceptions and scored seven touchdowns last season in his first extended look on offense.
He was an All-San Diego Section CIF First Team selection in 2016.
Also, another transfer announced his intention to attend Helix next season in former Mt. Carmel defensive back MARK JOHNSON.
Johnson, a senior, had five interceptions and 42 tackles last year with the Sundevils.
