Highlanders’ Scott to play for Aztecs
- Updated: June 26, 2017
2017 EAST COUNTY PREP FOOTBALL
LA MESA – Helix High senior star RASHAD SCOTT announced that he would accept a football scholarship to San Diego State University on Sunday evening.
Scott, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound hybrid defensive back/wide receiver, reportedly chose the Aztecs over Utah State and Fresno State. BYU was also said to offer the Highlanders’ star, while Wyoming was among others with offers or interest.

Analysts note Scott, commonly rated as a three-star recruit, has strong hands and body control as a receiver but is also a natural defensive back.
He is ranked in the top 35 consensus senior receivers in the state heading into the upcoming season but is possibly just as widely regarded for his coverage on the defensive side of the ball.
Scott is near the top of the county watch list of best overall players heading into the 2017 season.
He was a first-team All-East County selection as a defensive back in 2016.
As a receiver, he caught 46 passes last season, including seven for touchdowns.
Scott will team up with Helix senior quarterback CARSON BAKER and will form one of the top passing combinations in the county next season.
