San Diego Christian, which struggled to start the season winning just three of their first 14 games, has now won six of its last eight.
The Hawks won the eight-inning nightcap in walk-off fashion on a single by BOBBY MEAD with one out.
Bethesda took a 3-0 lead after 1 1/2 innings, but rallied to tie the score with three in the bottom of the second, including an RBI fielder’s choice by Mead.
JERRY QUEMADA pitched 3 1/3 shutout innings to pick up the win, allowing four hits and striking out four.
In the opener, JUSTIN HAWKINS went 3-for-4, driving in two and scoring two runs.
Junior VAHN BOZOIAN got things started for the SDC with an RBI single in the first. He later scored on an infield error.
JOSHUA SIDLEY drove in runs in the third and the fifth to build a 4-1 lead through five.
After Bethesda got a run in the top of the sixth, the Hawks scored three in the bottom half of the inning, capped by Hawkins’ two-run single.
