SPRING VALLEY (1-21-17) — Mount Miguel streaked to a 26-4 first quarter lead against Granite Hills and never looked back in a Grossmont Hills League contest Friday (Jan. 20), finishing with the Matadors claiming the 68-26 victory.

CAMARA DOUGLAS pitched in with 29 points including 10 for 11 from the free throw line, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and an assist to lead the Matadors.
SATERA BATES chipped in with 15 points to help turn the game into a rout.
LAILA SMITH dished 10 assists to go with 4 steals and 6 points.
“We missed so many layups and free throws that the small leak dripping in the gym didn’t seem to matter,” said Matadors coach ROBBIE SANDOVAL.
Granite Hills never made a game of it.
Only CHASE ROBLES reached double digits with 11 points for the Eagles.

HELIX 54, SANTANA 38 – Helix motored past Santana behind the double-double of DANIELLE SIMMONS’ 15 points and 12 rebounds in Friday’s (Jan. 20) Grossmont Hills League contest.
CAMRYN OWENS pitched in with 15 points and 7 rebounds.
Helix muscled its way to a 24-11 halftime lead, as Helix made a field goal at the first-half buzzer. There was only one basket scored – by the Highlanders – through the game’s first four-plus minutes.
The teams combined for 42 attempted free throws.

EL CAPITAN 57, EL CAJON VALLEY 21 – El Capitan bullied El Cajon Valley to a 57-21 Grossmont Valley League victory on Friday (Jan. 20).
MARIE COOK paced the Vaqueros with 20 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists, 4 blocks and 3 steals.
STEPHANIE ADAMS jumped the line for 16 points, 12 rebounds, 10 blocks and 3 steals, while JORDAN GRANDY had a stellar night with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.
“Jordan Grandy was on a roll tonight,” said Vaqueros assistant coach ROCKY COOK.
El Capitan: Marie Cook 20 (9 reb, 9 ast, 4 blk, 3 stl), Stephanie Adams 16 (12 reb, 1 ast, 10 blk, 3 stl), Jordan Grandy 16 (6 reb, 4 ast, 3 stl), McKenzi Kygar 2 (1 reb, 1 stl), Devon Bullock 1 (3 reb, 2 ast, 1 blk, 2 stl), Danielle Pimental 2 (2 stl).
Elsewhere, weather wrecked havoc on the schedule, as leaky roofs and power outages postponed three games.
FOOTHILLS CHRISTIAN 69, GUAJOME PARK 28 – CHRISTIAN BUKSA kept up her outstanding mid-season surge with 29 points to lead the Knights.
DEVRIE MOSTRONG added 17 as FCHS improved to 2-0 in league play.
