EL CAJON (12-27-16) — CAMRYN OWENS whistled in a trio of 3-pointers to finish with 15 points and pounded the glass for 5 rebounds, however, it wasn’t enough as Helix fell to Paul Kane of Alberta, Canada, 43-37, in Monday’s (Dec. 26) Aztec Holiday Classic.
DANIELLE SIMMONS pumped in 9 points, snared 10 rebounds and blocked 5 shots to support the Highlanders.
Ten Highlanders contributed to the Helix offensive might.
“We played neck and neck with them all game,” said Helix assistant coach BETSY WALKER. “This was the first close competition that Helix has played.”
Helix will play in the tournament at Montgomery Tuesday (Dec. 27) at 4:30 against an opponent TBA.
