EL CAJON (12-4-16) — For the second year in a row, Grossmont College will vie for the championship of the 45th Annual Grossmont College Invitational on Sunday (Dec. 4).
The Griffins host cross-town rival San Diego City College at 5 p.m.
In Saturday’s (Dec. 3) semifinals the Griffins wheeled past the Los Angeles Southwest Cougars 81-66.
Grossmont blazed to a 41-18 halftime lead and then more-or-less cruised to the finish line.
The Griffins’ coaches wanted to praise the Grossmont defense, but offensively the club had a wide-spread attack.
BRYCE PARSONS led the show for the Griffins with a double-double of 13 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. He had only one turnover in the game.
JOSH MORAN netted 11 points – the majority coming on 3-for-3 long distance shooting.
OSCAR LIMON pitched in with 9 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for Grossmont (5-4), while DANIEL McCOWN knocked down 9 points and recorded 3 steals.
As a team Grossmont was 9-of-17 from 3-point range and 12-of-18 from the charity stripe.
