CHARLOTTE, NC (7-6-16) — Former Granite Hills slugger and Las Vegas 51s outfielder TRAVIS TAIJERON will compete in the Triple-A Home Run Derby on Monday (July 11) at BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte.
Taijeron is tied for the team lead with 13 home runs, while leading in the Pacific Coast League with 34 doubles and 50 extra-base hits. His 68 RBIs are third in the league and his 38 home runs since the beginning of last season are second-most in the PCL.
Taijeron is one of three PCL players named to the Home Run Derby
Taijeron was named a Triple-A All-Star for the second year in a row on June 30 as a member of the Pacific Coast League team.
Boston Red Sox pitcher Sean O’Sullivan, a graduate of Valhalla High, was also named to the Triple-A All-Star game for his stellar first half at Pawtucket, but will likely miss the game as a member of the International League team following his recall on Sunday.
He pitched five innings and picked up the win for the Boston, which has had a struggling rotation for the better part of two months.
