EL CAJON (5-31-16) — Grossmont College dominated the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference in 2016 as TANNER PERRY was named Player of the Year and coach RANDY ABSHIER selected Coach of the Year.
The Griffins concluded the season 31-12 and 19-5 in PCAC play and finished as one of the final eight teams in the state to be playing baseball on the Junior College level. That 19-5 record in PCAC play garnered them a Conference Championship.
The Griffins soared to the Southern California semifinals before succumbing to Cypress.
There was no stopping Perry who hit better than .400 during the campaign.
Pitching was the strength for Grossmont College, anchored by ALAN STRONG, DONAVON McCRYSTAL and ANDREW SCHULTZ.
Other all-leaguers included freshman outfielder ROBERT BOSTEDT.
