EL CAJON – Granite Hills’ senior southpaw DILLAN SHRUM is making a major comeback following a shoulder injury earlier in the season at just about the right time. He pitched a 4-hit complete game shutout and struck out 9 while walking only 2 in a 5-0 win over Santa Fe Christian win on Wednesday.
In spite of his lengthy injury Shrum still boasts a 7-2 record. He’s been missing from the lineup for more than a month but returned to the Granite Hills’ lineup for San Diego Section Division I playoffs. He was 0-for-3 against Santa Fe Christian but it didn’t matter because his pitching was so solid.
Granite Hills got a key hit from TREVOR HAZELHURST who slashed his 2nd solo home run of the season.
BLAKE ST. CLAIR was 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI.
TREVOR OMAHEN cashed in a pair of runs on two sacrifice flies, as Granite Hills had three sac flies on the afternoon.

TORREY PINES 8, VALHALLA 1 – After a stunning first round upset over St. Augustine in the San Diego Section Division I play-in round, Valhalla fell flat on its face in Wednesday’s (May 25) meeting with Torrey Pines.
The Norsemen handed the Falcons 5 unearned runs.
Valhalla’s offense consisted of singles by LEWIS DIRKES, CAMERON ZAMUDIO and COLE HOWARD.
Valhalla will play Santa Fe Christian on Friday (May 27) at 11:30 a.m. The time was changed from afternoon play due to the prom schedule.
