WALNUT (2-25-16) — Grossmont College took a giant bite out of a 12-point deficit in the final four minutes of Wednesday’s (Feb. 24) first round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs at Mt. San Antonio College.
The Griffins, who trailed only 32-30 at halftime, were down 65-53 with 3:53 remaining.
Grossmont cut the deficit further but came up short as the fourth-seeded Mounties eliminated the Griffins 76-70.
Grossmont, which lost its fifth straight game, finished the season at 14-14.
The Mounties posted their eighth straight win, including the last six at home. Overall Mt. SAC won 10 of its last 11 to roll its record to 17-10.
The Griffins’ KAELEN MITCHELL registered a game high 27 points in the losing effort.
