Quarterfinals—Saturday’s results
Valhalla 10, Westview 9 – The Valhalla girls have two losses on the season and both of them are to the Wolverines.
After falling behind early, the Norse rallied back to take a two goal lead at half thanks to four 1st half goals by freshman sensation Katie Ratcliff.
The Norsemen then had a few too many mistakes that lead to Westview taking 3 goal lead in the 4th quarter.
Valhalla got two in a row from Ashlyn Doyle to cut it to one goal with 4 minutes to go. Then it was Ratcliff again with 1:16 left to tie the game at 9-9.
Doyle scored with 26 seconds left on a man up situation to go up 10-9.
A solid block by Zoe Johnson and the girls ran out the clock.
Valhalla will take on the #1 La Jolla Vikings next Thursday at 5:45.

Torrey Pines 9, Granite Hills 3 – The Falcons led at halftime to pull off a minor upset of the Eagles.
Rancho Buena Vista 9, Helix 8 – RBV tied the game late to send the game into overtime. RBV won in double OT.
DIVISION II
Semifinals—Tuesday
(3) West Hills (23-7) 2 vs. (2) Scripps Ranch (20-8) 7 – Fallon Burnworth scored for West Hills. The Falcons led 5-0 at halftime, but the Pack came back with two goals in the third quarter.

Valhalla 7, Helix 3 – Valhalla moves on to the quarterfinals of the San Diego Open on Friday. Spencer Samuel had 4 goals for the Norsemen.
After a 1-1 first, Valhalla scored the only three goals of the second period. Valhalla outscored the Highlanders, 2-1, in the third.
Helix 11, Westview 10 – Helix won the San Diego Open contest.

Helix 19, Steele Canyon 6 – Hailey Jackson was a scoring machine with 10 goals for Helix, while teammate Antoinette Peterson added four goals. Katie Wilson, of Steele Canyon, led the Cougars with 3 goals.
Valhalla 9, Granite Hills 5 – Valhalla freshman Zoe Johnson made 16 saves in goal, as Valhalla (16-1) took over sole possession of first place in the Valley League with the win over its closest rival in proximity and in the standings.
Both teams entered the game 3-0 in the Valley League standings.
Valhalla led 3-2 at halftime, but stretched it out to a 6-2 lead after 3 quarters. Next up for the Norse is Helix next Thursday at home.

The Valhalla girls water polo team won the Valley High School Tournament Championship, as they beat Granite Hills 7-1 and Aliso Niguel 6-4 in the championship bracket on Saturday.
The Norse are off to a 5-0 start to the season.
Freshman Zoe Johnson had 11 saves in goal in the victory over the Eagles, while Geneva Welch had two goals and played strong defense in the win over Aliso Niguel.
