EL CAJON (2-21-16) — After a five game non-losing streak (four wins and a tie), the Grossmont College Griffin softball team has hit a bit of a slide.
After losing in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference game on Friday (Feb. 19), the bad luck followed the team into Saturday’s (Feb. 20) non-conference home game against Mt. San Antonio. The Mounties used their power to defeat the Griffins 3-0.
Mt. San Antonio (7-1) used outstanding pitching by Tiffany Kennedy-Cummings (5-1) and some timely power hitting by Kayla Sok (solo home run) and Priscilla Leon (2-run home run) to shut the Griffins down.
ASHLEY MADARA (Valhalla) had a hard time containing the Mounties offense as she allowed 12 hits which turned into three earned runs.
RACHEL EVERETT (Bonita Vista) got the only hit off of Kennedy-Cummings for the home team.
Grossmont (10-4-1) will continue their non-conference schedule when Santa Ana (5-7) comes to El Cajon for a 3:00 p.m. first pitch.
