ARCATA (1-29-16) — Sure-handed Christian High wide receiver NICK SEXTON has made a commitment to accept a football scholarship offer to Humboldt State University.
The 6-foot, 170-pound senior led the East County with 66 receptions for 1349 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Sexton was a standout in postseason all-star games, winning Most Valuable Player in the Friday Night Lights All-Star tilt with eight catches for 77 yards and a touchdown.
Turning down a similar offer to Dixie State in St. George, Utah, Sexton joins a bevy of quality receivers in the Lumberjack’s corral.
Returning to that huddle is Chase Krivashei, who pulled down 72 passes for 895 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Another returning receiver at Humboldt State is Sage Burmeister (La Jolla Country Day), who is a redshirt junior that snagged 25 passes for 221 yards.
Not to be overlooked is Valhalla redshirt sophomore JOHN TODD who grabbed 10 passes for 275 yards and 3 touchdowns for the Lumberjacks.
So Sexton will definitely be challenged.
