Foothillers’ Lilliard makes the Dixie connection

EL CAJON (1-21-16) — Grossmont High senior ALEX LILLIARD has committed to Dixie State University in St. George, Utah.
An All-East County first team defensive back and a second team All-Grossmont Hills League pick, the 6-foot, 210-pound Lilliard hopes to challenge for a playing spot in his first collegiate season.
As a Foothillers senior he logged 72 tackles (9 for loss), 3 sacks and an interception. He was a standout in the San Diego Friday Night Lights Magazine All-Star game as well as in the Spanos Classic.
Dixie State has attempted to woo several East County football players including Mount Miguel’s MIKE JONES and West Hills’ TAJ BROOMFIELD.
Dixie State has already signed Grossmont College receiver SERGIO BAILEY.
Elsewhere:
Grossmont High’s speed merchant KHALID DAVIS has received offers from North Dakota’s Minot State University and Chadron State College of Nebraska.
Davis caught 66 passes for 1043 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also had returns for 271 yards and 2 touchdowns.
