SPRING VALLEY (12-29-15) — The West Hills Wolf Pack took on the visiting La Salle Lancers in the SoCal Holiday Prep Classic NAIA Division on Monday (Dec. 28) and won easily, 55-16.
Everyone contributed for West Hills as they led wire to wire starting with the first quarter in which they led 19-2. The Wolf Pack held the Lancers scoreless until about the 2 minute mark left to go in the half.
Offensively they were led by MEGAN SCOTT who scored 12 points including 3 treys and on the defensive end had 4 steals along with 5 assists and also MAYA CLEMONS who chipped in with 10 points and also had 3 steals of her own.
“We were short-handed tonight, only dressed 8,” said West Hills coach RYAN KINSER. “One is on vacation and our starting point guard is out with an ankle. Given that, I thought the girls stepped up and did what they needed to do to get a win.”
“Our post played well tonight, CARLY RALEY had a career high 18 points,” noted Kinser. “Megan Scott who stepped up in (VIVIAN) PANELA’s absence also had a good game, scoring 13.”
It wasn’t just offensively the Wolf Pack had their way but also on the glass as KERRIE DANIELS led with 9 boards. Overall West Hills grabbed 42 boards.
West Hills in the second half extended their lead enough to set in motion the running clock in the fourth period. Even with the running clock they still outscored the Lancers 8-3.
“It’s always tough to play a game after a 4-day layoff and no practice, so getting a win is all that matters,” Kinser said.
West Hills: Megan Scott 12 (7 reb, 5 ast, 4 stl), Maya Clemons 10 (3 reb, 3 ast, 3 stl), Carly Raley 9 (5 reb, 1 ast, 1 stl, 1 blk), Clarrisa Holder 7 (3 reb, 1 ast), Haley Doucette 5 (4 reb, 2 ast, 1 stl), Summer Stewart 4 (6 reb, 2 ast, 1 blk), Aylssa Garcia 4 (5 reb, 3 ast, 2 stl), Kerrie Daniels 4 (9 reb, 1 ast, 1 blk).
