LAKESIDE (12-25-15) — El Capitan basketball coach FRANK QUINONES will serve as tournament director for the largest high school basketball tournament on the West Coast.
The SoCal Holiday Prep Classic for varsity girls basketball, which features 64 teams and eight divisions, begins on Saturday (Dec. 26) and continues on Monday (the 28th), Tuesday (the 29th) through Wednesday (Dec. 30).
Game sites will include Mount Miguel, El Capitan, West Hills, Bishop’s, Del Norte, Grossmont, Granite Hills and Valhalla.
According to Quinones this year’s tournament will include the majority of elite teams from San Diego, Las Vegas, Nevada and Washington.
One of the gold medal teams in the Premier Division is La Jolla Country Day. Not to be overlooked in this prestigious division is Bishop Gorman of Nevada, Gardena Serra and Bishop’s.
In the WNBA Division features Mount Miguel, Canyon Springs of Moreno Valley and 3-time state champion Garfield of Washington.
The talent list is spread according to previous performance through eight divisions, which includes East County’s West Hills in the NAIA Division,
