With a steady 5-4 record heading into a matchup with Pomona-Pitzer (5-2), the Hawks looked to withstand the pressure of beating a top tier ball club.
SDC came out flat, Pomona- Pitzer going on a 9-2 run to start the game. The Hawks remained steady, down only 2 late in the first half, until Trevor English nailed a three to put the Hawks up 28-27 with 4:31 to go in the first half of play. English went 4-12 from the field in the first half and the Hawks shot 39 percent as a team. The Hawks managed to still have a two-point advantage heading into the 2nd half, 33-31.
Pomona- Pitzer shot 43 percent in the first half as a team, not much better than the Hawks either. Both teams played hard defensively to end the half. Gibson Farone-Collins pulled down 11 rebounds for Pomona in the first half to give them an advantage on the block.

The Hawks shot much better in the 2nd half led by Nathan Klekas, with an absolute eruption offensively in the 2nd half. He had 15 second-half points on 6-8 shooting. Adding three 3-pointers as well, Klekas was unconscious shooting the ball. The Hawks managed to go 6-9 from beyond the arc in the second half and shot 48 percent from the field.
