MIRA MESA (12-18-15) — It could not be any different from one day to the next for the Mount Miguel Matadors. On Wednesday the Matadors defeated Santa Fe Christian. The exact opposite happened on Thursday (Dec. 17) when Torrey Pines beat them 63-48 at Mira Mesa as part of the Winter Prep Classic (East Division).
The Matadors (5-3) were led by SATERA BATES and her 17 points. Joining her in double digits was AMBER HARD with 12 points.
Sierra Campisano led all scorers with 20 points for Torrey Pines (5-2) in the victory.
“We got to get better,” DANESIA ALLEN said after the contest. “Our girls have it in them. I don’t know what is going on with our girls, we just have to get better as a team.
“DESTINI ANDERSON (six points) is one our players that we look to as far as scoring and guarding the oppositions bigs,” Allen continued. “She hasn’t shown up for us yet. We know she has it, that is all we are waiting for. Once she shows up and our team understands team chemistry, I think we’ll be ok.”
It will be a battle of “MM”’s Friday (Dec. 18) as Mount Miguel will travel up to Mira Mesa once again and take on the host Marauders at 7:30 p.m.
Mount Miguel: Satera Bates 17 (7 reb, 1 stl, 1 ast), Amber Hard 12 (7 reb, 1 stl, 1 ast), Destini Anderson 6 (5 reb, 2 stl, 1 blk), Laila Smith 5 (4 ast, 3 stl, 1 reb, 1 blk), Zaria Arline 4 (1 stl), Camara Douglas 2 (5 reb, 2 stl), A’Zhanea Pegram 2 (1 reb), Kiara Morris (1 reb, 1 ast).
