Foothillers win tourney game over Valley Center

SAN DIEGUITO (12-10-15) — Grossmont coach GRACE CAMPBELL guided her Foothillers into Wednesday night’s (Dec. 9) opening round of the Mustang Tournament at San Dieguito Academy.
The Foothillers outscored the Valley Center Jaguars across the board en route to a 40-15 victory.
Grossmont was especially strong in the third quarter when they blanked the Jags 11-0.
Senior SYMONE GRIFFITH canned 7 of 11 from the field for a game high 14 points. She also made 4 steals.
Grossmont streaked to a 5-0 lead on a bucket by Griffith and a 3-pointer by TAISHA SILAS to take the early lead, and the Foothillers never looked back..
That propelled Grossmont to its third win in as many starts.

OUR LADY OF PEACE 61, EL CAPITAN 16 – MARIE COOK knocked down 10 points to lead El Capitan on Wednesday (Dec. 9) in the Matador Classic as the Vaqueros suffered their fourth loss in five decisions.
Former East County coach AL SILVA’s OLP Pilots breezed to their third win against two losses.
El Capitan: Marie Cook 10, Taylor Fagan 3, Danielle Pimental 3, Zanndra Ragole 2.
BISHOP’S 100, SANTANA 12 – Destiny Littleton, dubbed “Miss Attitude,” poured in 45 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to help the Knights (4-0) crown the Sultans (0-4) in Wednesday’s (Dec. 9) Matador Classic.
Littleton nailed 18 of 25 shots from the floor including 3 of 6 from beyond the arc. She was 6-for-6 from the free throw line and grabbed 10 steals.
The Knights led 91-9 after three periods and cruised to the finish line.
