2015-16 EAST COUNTY NATIONAL LETTERS OF INTENT

EL CAJON (11-13-15) — Seven East County athletes signed National Letters of Intent on this week, including Foothill Christian’s T.J. LEAF (basketball) who signed with the UCLA Bruins.
Other blue chippers to cast their lot were Valhalla third baseman-pitcher COLE HENDERSON with the University of Nevada. The Valhalla slugger batted .367 with 3 home runs and 16 RBI for the Norsemen.
Grossmont High’s CALVIN FARRIS, who will attend Brown University in Providence, R.I. posted a 1.38 ERA with a 5-4 record and 2 saves for the Foothillers last spring. He struck out 49 batters in 56 innings and logged 3 complete games. He batted .256 with 3 home runs and 15 RBI.
Softball signees:
The list of East County softball signees include West Hills pitcher MIRANDA GROVER, who signed with Southwest Oklahoma State in Weatherford, Okla., as did Wolf Pack teammate outfielder PAIGE BOWLER.
Patrick Henry shortstop ANYA VANDERSIP has signed with Georgia Gwinnett, while teammate DANI ROMERO, the Patriots first baseman inked a contract with North Dakota University.
In the waiting:
Helix middle linebacker JIHAD WOODS has verbally committed to Washington State University. He will be unable to sign until the second week of February 2016, the NSI football signing date.
