SANTEE – El Capitan senior Tristan Duncan scored 7 goals in a hard fought loss 13-14 to West Hills on Friday night.
The 7 goals pushed Tristan’s 4 year Varsity career total to 304 goals, which is currently 18th all-time for the SDCIF.
What makes this accomplishment extra special is that water polo is Tristan’s second sport. He is one of the top rated high school baseball pitchers in the country and will be attending the University of Oregon on a baseball scholarship in the Fall of 2016.
Tristan had this to say about his polo career, “Playing water polo at El Cap the last 4 years has really been one of the highlights of high school, the people, the program it’s just a great place to be, out on the pool deck. I just love the sport, it is very demanding, the action is very fast paced and the competition can be fierce at times. Playing polo has helped me in so many ways, made me stronger, tougher, better teammate. And it has really helped me in baseball, I even swim and do some egg beating during the baseball season to keep my strength up”
Head coach Robin Sanchez had this to say about his senior player, “I’m very proud of Tristan’s accomplishments throughout his time with El Capitan Water Polo. More importantly than the goals he scored was his demonstration to the team with his hard work, dedication to his many commitments, and his constant example of teamwork and sportsmanship.”
Tristan will lead the El Capitan Boys Polo team into CIF Tuesday in Carlsbad vs San Dieguito Academy.
Tristan will also be in attendance at the Hall of Champions Wednesday morning for the NLI signing.
