SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The Hawks needed a big road win and came home with just that taking down The Master’s College 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon.
With the Hawks playoff hopes in question, they couldn’t have picked a better time to have a solid team effort. Senior goalkeeper, Katherine Koury, was a key factor for the Hawks defense. Koury tallied six saves on 11 shots. She had a clean sheet until the 75th minute win TMC finally got on the board.
SDC got on the board in the 13th minute on a goal by Shayna Petersen-Burman. The senior midfielder put the goal away off her own rebound that hit the goal post. This was her 7th goal of the season.
The Hawks got off to a quick start and scored just six minutes into the second half. Vivian Oray, who is the leading goal scorer in the GSAC this year put one in the back of the net off a nice pass from Syndi Scolari. Oray scored her 12th goal on the season and she now has 31 points total on the season.
Alejandra Gonzalez made the score three to nil in the 70th minute. It was the senior midfielder’s 5th goal of the season. This ultimately put the game out of reach.
The Mustangs finally got on the board late in the second half on a goal by Michaela Rickard.
The Hawks will honor all of their seniors on Saturday night before the match. Kickoff is set for 6PM against GSAC rival, Hope International University.
