Grossmont Hills League
SPRING VALLEY – Katelynn Caserma Kloebe had 11 kills, while teammate Tyler Sinkoich led with 12 kills and Ashley Whipple made 11 blocks, as Steele Canyon edged back into a tie atop the Grossmont Hills League at 4-1 with a 25-17, 25-20, 13-25, 25-23 win over Valhalla Tuesday night in the Cougars’ Den.
Sophomore Chloe Gould served up three aces and made 25 assists for the Cougars, while Sinkovich added 23 digs, and union Gabi Gandolfo had a big night with 20 digs. Caserma-Kloebe added 16 digs.
Steele Canyon is 23-11 on the season, while Valhalla is 14-7.
Granite Hills defeated Grossmont 25-19, 25-23, 25-7, as Lauren Komp had 9 kills for Granite Hills, while teammate Kylee Snyder had 21 assists. The Eagles moved to 2-3 in league and 16-12 overall.
Grossmont Valley League
El Capitan knocked off host Santana 25-17, 25-14, 25-22, and kept pace by improving to 5-1, while the Sultans are 3-4 in league. El Cap is 17-4 overall.
Junior Savannah Minshew tied her season high with 10 kills and also added seven digs and 17 assists, while junior teammate Megan Gillette added nine kills and four aces for El Capitan. Junior Grace Burkett had three blocks and seven digs for the Vaqueros.
Vaqueros’ juniors Kate Swanson and Sadie Jarolimek both had six digs apiece.
Helix defeated Mount Miguel 25-18, 25-11, 25-10, as Helix remained atop the Valley League (6-0, 16-5) with the win over the Matadors (2-4, 8-12).
Monte Vista defeated El Cajon Valley 25-15, 25-12, 25-12 to earn its first league win of the season, improving to 5-8 overall.
