Valhalla, Helix are leaders in league circuits

EL CAJON – Valhalla defeated Granite Hills in four in the first Grossmont Hills League showdown between the loop favorites on Tuesday evening.
The Eagles got the jump early, but the Norse won 16-25, 26-24, 25-15, 25-12.
Maya Lopez, a junior, led Valhalla (16-10) with 14 kills, while senior Cameron Douma and sophomore Mady Woods both added seven winner for the Norse.
Senior Brittney Beltz had 35 assists for Valhalla, while Lopez added 26 digs and Douma dug out 19 balls.
Senior Diamond Hollis had 12 kills for the Eagles (13-6).
Also in the Grossmont Hills League, West Hills defeated Grossmont, 25-13, 25-15, 25-21.
Elsewhere, Helix (14-5) swept past Monte Vista to move to 4-0 in the Valley League and 14-5 overall. The Highlanders took down a 25-9, 25-12, 25-13 decision at home.
In the Eastern League, Christian defeated Serra, 25-27, 25-16, 27-25, 25-22, in a match played at Christian High School. Kills: A. Dunham (C) 27; Digs: D. Dunham (C) 15, Henige (C) 14; Assists: Larsen (C) 22.
