Norse, Eagles claim Hills wins

Grossmont Hills League

Valhalla def. Steele Canyon 25-14, 25-21, 18-25, 25-21 – The Norse outlasted the Cougars in four behind 10 kills and four aces and 21 digs from junior Maiya Lopez.

Valhalla’s Brittney Beltz also had four aces and 36 assists, while teammates Hailey Wilson and Tiare Spitz-Johnson both had seven blocks.

Senior Rachel Kuhn, of Valhalla (11-6), has 21 digs, as well.

The Cougars were led by Katelynn Caserma-Kloebe’s 13 kills and 19 digs, and junior Ashley Whipple’s 10 blocks.

Senior Tyler Sinkovich had 24 digs for Steele Canyon (15-9), while teammate Gabi Gandolfo, a junior, added 20 digs.

Sophomore Chloe Gould had 40 assists for SC.

Granite Hills def. Grossmont, 25-16, 25-17, 25-17 – Gillian Wedge and Bechet Gossett both had seven kills, while Kylee Snyder had 21 assists for the Eagles in their league-opener with the Foothillers.

Sarah Ralston had 22 digs for the Eagles (15-9), while Gossett added six blocks.

Monte Vista def. El Cajon Valley, 25-12, 25-16, 25-18 – The Monarchs (5-4) swept the Braves to snap a three-match losing skid.

Chrsitian def. Mira Mesa, 25-13, 25-11, 25-18 – Alex Dunham led the Patriots with 16 kills.
