ESCONDIDO – Foothills Christian spotted San Pasqaul Academy a two-score start and just fell short of making up the ground in a typical 54-44 8-man shootout in the North County Friday.
The Knights’ Daniel Hoffman 15 times for 146 yards and five touchdowns and he also threw for a score.
SPA went up 12-0 before FHCS scored on a Connor George touchdown to make it 12-6, as Hoffman floated a pass over the middle to his wide-open target, who coasted in for the score.
After San Pasqual Academy went ahead 24-6, Hoffman scored for the Knights to make it 24-14, as he also scored the conversion.
Hoffman scored a touchdown in the second half, which closed the deficit to 48-28.
Hoffman was also 8-for-13 passing for 138 yards. George caught four passes for 71 yards, including a 55-yard reception. George also intercepted a pass.
Ball-hawking Eli Hale recorded another interception for Foothills Christian.
Nathan Hamilton led the Knights with 10 tackles. Judah Lopez and Caleb Tarver recovered fumbles for FCHS. Tarver also added six tackles.
