Hawks tie school record with 15 goals against Providence Christian

SANTEE – Eight goals in the first half and seven in the second from the San Diego Christian women’s soccer team tied a school-record Wednesday afternoon as the Hawks defeated Providence Christian, 15-0.
The 15 goals in the game tied the 2005 game against La Sierra in total goals. The 55 shots was a school-record surpassing a game in 2004 of 45.
With the win, the Hawks improve to 4-1-1. The Sea Beggars fall to 0-5 on the year.
Vivian Oray started the scoring early in the game in the 2nd minute as Shayne Wellsgave her a through ball and Oray finished the breakaway attempt. Oray added another in the 13th minute giving SDC a 2-0 lead.
Alejandra Gonzalez scored in the 15th minute off a pass from Katherine Day as Shayne Wells scored an unassisted goal in the 19th minute to give the Hawks a 4-0 lead. Day (20th minute), Aileene Moreno (37th), Rachael LaHaye (37th), and Shayna Petersen-Burman (44th) capped the scoring in the first half.
The Hawks outshot Providence Christian 30-0 in the first half.
Alissa Munguila started off the second half with a goal in the first fifteen seconds thanks to a through ball from Oray. Day scored her second goal of the game in the 47th minute as she tacked on two more of the day in the 56th and 57th minutes.
Sara Lou capped all scoring in the 88th minute with a shot 30-yards out that was just out of the reach of the Sea Beggars keeper.
Katherine Koury and Sandra Rivas shared the shutout with both goalies playing a half. None of them collected a save.
The Hawks will travel to play Bethesda on Saturday for their next contest. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
