- Updated: September 5, 2015
SANTEE – The San Diego Christian women’s soccer team found themselves in uncharted waters early on in the game between Occidental on Saturday – trailing.
The Tigers scored two goals in each half to beat the Hawks for their first deficit of the year and first goals allowed.
With the loss, the Hawks fall to 2-1 on the year as Occidental picks up their first win evening at 1-1.
Occidental tallied their first goal in the 16th minute and waited just five minutes to score again for a 2-0 lead.
Alissa Munguila attempted to cut the deficit in half with a shot in the 31st minute but it was saved by Dallas Gunny. Vivian Orayhad the best chance for the Hawks all game long as her breakaway shot was saved by Gunny and went out for a corner kick in the 43rd minute.
The Tigers outshot the Hawks 10-4 in the first frame and 13-10 in the game.
The Hawks came out firing in the second half totaling five shots before Occidental’s first. But Julie Khil’s shot in the 69th minute gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead. Khil wasn’t done there as her goal in the 77th minute capped all scoring.
Keeper Katherine Koury registered three saves in the 90 minutes.
SDC is back on the road on Labor Day as they travel to Carson to take on Marymount California University at 2 p.m. at the Home Depot Center.
