EL CAJON (6-22-15) – The Southern California Football Alliance (SCFA) has released the 2015 Grossmont College football schedule. An even slate of five home and five road games begins with a mid-afternoon contest on September fifth against the 2014 American Mountain runner-up Southwestern College at Mashin-Roth Memorial Stadium on the campus of Grossmont College.
Weeks two and three will see the Griffins play road night games at last years National Northern League bottom feeders Pasadena (Sept. 12) and former San Diego State University head coach Tom Craft and his Riverside Tigers on Sept. 19. The Tigers lost last year in the SoCal Semi-finals.
When the Griffins return to the friendly confines of Mashin-Roth Memorial Stadium they will open National South League play against Golden West in another mid-afternoon contest on Sept. 26.
The month of October begins on the third with a road contest at Escondido High against San Diego rival Palomar College at six. Week six of the 2015 schedule is position week where the SCFA takes a page out of the NFL schedule and puts teams compared to their finishing position the previous year. That game for the Griffins is against the reigning California State Champions Mt. San Antonio. Good news for the Griffins is that they will be hosting the Mounties at 1:00 p.m. on Oct. 10. A week later (Oct. 17) the Griffins will head up the I-5 North to Mission Viejo to the Snake Pit for a 6:00 p.m. contest with the Gauchos. The month of October wraps up with a home matinee with Fullerton College on the 24th.
The slate shows only two contests to wrap the season up in November. Santa Ana will visit El Cajon on the seventh for a 1:00 kickoff on Sophomore Day. The regular season finale will take place at Orange Coast College at 6:00 p.m. against the Pirates.
