EL CAJON (8-17-15) — Grossmont High School senior pitcher Calvin Farris has committed to play baseball at Brown University in Providence, R.I. beginning in the 2017 season.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound right-hander selected Brown because of the outstanding academic opportunities as well as the chance to compete in Division I baseball and the prestigious Ivy League.
As a junior Farris posted a 1.38 ERA and a 5-4 record with 2 saves in three complete games for the Foothillers. He struck out 49 batters in 56 innings.
