SAN DIEGO (7-12-15) – The South’s winning streak in still in tact as the El Capitan-led South squad defeated the North All-Stars 28-0 on Saturday (July 11) night at San Diego Mesa College’s Douglas Stadium.
BRAD CAGLE (El Capitan) threw for 48 yards on three of six passing with one interception. He did all of that before breaking a small bone in his foot in the fourth quarter, something the Grossmont College head coach MIKE JORDAN will not be too happy to hear about as practice starts in less than a month. Cagle also racked up 13 yards on two carries.
MICHAEL LEDESMA (Granite Hills) was a perfect one for one for 41 yards. But the duel threat wideout also caught a ball for five yards. All of the Eagle alumni’s action came in the fourth quarter.
But is was El Capitan’s defensive lineman CLAY CROMWELL that took home the South MVP honors with his two sacks and multiple tackles. So that should put the smile back on coach Jordan’s face as he was one of nine future Griffins on the field.
ISAIAH CAPOOCIA (El Capitan) handled the ball five times for 35 yards and two touchdowns. Which will make the coaches at Sacramento State happy as he will be in the states capitol come later this month when practice starts.
Cathedral’s Choyce Bostian was involved in every single special teams tackle in the first half and only missed two special teams tackles on the entire night.
