SANTEE (6-27-15) — Six former Santana standouts were inducted into the Sultans’ Athletic Hall of Fame at a banquet Friday night (June 26) in the school’s gymnasium.
The inductees in the 2nd annual event, raising the total to 20, included basketball stars JORDAN FRANEY and LESLIE ELLIS-BERTRAM, baseball player-coach JIM SASKA, and track record holder and coach LLOYD KASTER.
Rounding out the latest inductees but who were unable to make the banquet were three-sport letterman and Major League baseball player JIM TATUM and Colorado State All-Western Athletic Conference football safety GARY WEHLAGE.
All of these athletes were chosen for their athletic achievements while at Santana.
The Master of Ceremonies was former Santana History teacher and the Sultans’ colorful football announcer, DICK HOY.
